1 – What is data validation?
Data validation aims to ensure that the counting data collected by the counters is reliable, consistent, and usable for analysis. This process also includes data reconstruction when necessary.
What is the purpose of validation?
The ultimate goal of data validation is to have clean data that allows you to rely on reliable indicators for decision-making or communication.
How does it work?
This process is carried out in simple steps to cleanse the data.
- Spot irregularities
- Identify whether these data are
– normal justified by weather, sports, or cultural events,
– abnormal caused by vandalism, empty battery, altered counter environment, etc. - Decide whether raw data should be kept for statistical purposes or reconstructed to ensure that it reflects the real situation.
- Rebuild and validate the reconstructions
What is a validation campaign?
A data validation campaign concerns :
- a time period and
- a list of selected count sites
- All counters with an expert license are integrated into a quarterly campaign
- All counters with a professional license are integrated into an annual campaign
To validate the data, the process has been integrated into Eco-Visio so that you can track the campaigns and maintain control over the decisions.
Who should be in charge of the validation campaign?
An Eco-Visio user is automatically assigned to each campaign. This assigned user can be changed (A) at any time before the campaign starts by an Eco-Visio administrator.
Note: The assigned user must have the role of administrator or manager and must have visibility over all the counting sites in the domain.
What involvement will the responsable of validation have?
The assigned user will potentially be involved in two phases:
An email notification is sent, and the user is guided within the Eco-Visio interface. The user does not need to be logged in to Eco-Visio every day.
For each campaign, here are the 4 main steps followed.
How does a campaign proceed?
The first campaign starts at the beginning of a month and lasts 12 months or 3 months, and can be shifted according to your needs (B). You can adjust the start month of this first campaign.
How to change the desired delivery date?
If you need the data to be validated by a specific deadline, you can specify the expected delivery date for each campaign (C).
