1 – What is data validation
Data validation aims to ensure that the counting data collected by the counters is reliable, consistent, and usable for analysis. This process also includes data reconstruction when necessary.
Why validate?
The ultimate goal of data validation is to ensure clean data, enabling you to depend on accurate data for informed decision-making and effective communication.
How does it work?
This process is carried out in simple steps to cleanse the data.
- Spot irregularities
- Identify whether these data are
– normal > Justified by factors such as weather, sports events, or cultural activities
– abnormal > > Caused by issues like vandalism, a depleted battery, changes in the counter environment, etc. - Decide whether raw data should be kept for statistical purposes or reconstructed to ensure that it reflects reality
- Rebuild the data if needed and validate the reconstructions
What is a validation campaign?
A data validation campaign focuses on:
- A specific time period
- A list of selected count sites
- All counters with an Expert license are included in a quarterly campaign
- All counters with a Professional license are included in an annual campaign
To facilitate data validation, the process is integrated into Eco-Visio, allowing you to track campaigns and maintain control over your decisions.
Who should be in charge of validation campaigns?
Eco-Visio user is automatically assigned to each campaign. And Eco-Visio administrator can modify the assigned user (Insert A) before the campaign begins.
Note: The assigned user must have the role of administrator or manager and must have visibility over all the counting sites in the domain.
What involvement will the person responsable of validation have?
The assigned user will potentially be involved in two phases:
An email notification is sent, and the user is guided within the Eco-Visio interface. The user does not need to be logged in to Eco-Visio every day.
For each campaign, the following four main steps are to be followed:
How is a campaign carried out?
The first campaign starts at the beginning of a month and lasts 12 months or 3 months, and can be shifted according to your needs (Insert B). You can adjust the start month of this first campaign.
How to change the desired delivery date?
If you require the data to be validated by a specific deadline, you can set the expected delivery date for each campaign (Insert C).
